I'm Karen, a photographer and videographer based in Bristol, UK. I'm actually a Canadian from small-town southwestern Ontario, but I find the UK to be such a great mix of old and new, beautiful countryside and vibrant city life, that I've decided to stay.I have an MA in Archaeology for Screen Media from the University of Bristol (UK) and a BA (Hons) in Film Studies and Classical History from Queen's University (Canada). I've operated my own videography business, been on the front lines of a busy television company, and worked in association with English Heritage, the Toronto Vegetarian Association, and more recently Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments.
You may notice a few trends in my work, as there are a couple of topics that I come back to time and again. One of them is the past. A love of the historical has been a constant companion, and I can happily spend a day wandering a Roman ruin or abandoned abbey.
Animal advocacy is also extremely important to me, and I aim to use my skills for exploring the exploitation and rights of non-human animals. I hope my own work will encourage people to think a little differently about the world.
