Bio

I'm Karen, a photographer and videographer based in Bristol, UK. I'm actually a Canadian from small-town southwestern Ontario, but I find the UK to be such a great mix of old and new, beautiful countryside and vibrant city life, that I've decided to stay.

I have an MA in Archaeology for Screen Media from the University of Bristol (UK) and a BA (Hons) in Film Studies and Classical History from Queen's University (Canada). I've operated my own videography business, been on the front lines of a busy television company, and worked in association with English Heritage, the Toronto Vegetarian Association, and more recently Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments.

You may notice a few trends in my work, as there are a couple of topics that I come back to time and again. One of them is the past. A love of the historical has been a constant companion, and I can happily spend a day wandering a Roman ruin or abandoned abbey.

Animal advocacy is also extremely important to me, and I aim to use my skills for exploring the exploitation and rights of non-human animals. I hope my own work will encourage people to think a little differently about the world.
